Last year I joined the iNaturalist.org group. It is a joint venture of the California Academy of Sciences and Natural Geographic. As a member, I can observe plants and animals and nature in general and post those observations to the site. Other members do the same. The observations include location, so you can see what other members in your area are seeing. I think a good way to crowd-source the cataloging of nature. Also a good way to see changes to nature. We are facing many challenges these days, many worthy of attention. The one on the top of my list is climate change. Information drawn from the volunteers at organizations such as iNaturalist may help in the climate change solutions.
