2/7/2022:
For many years, one of the very first things I did was go through emails. I wanted to see what was facing me that day. I still do that, but the amount of stuff I need to deal with is a fraction of what it was. I am usually at my computer by 5:30am and start making breakfast at 7:00am. This is probably the most alert part of my day. Maybe I should not even open Outlook during that period. I checked my son’s calendar. I knew he schedules his emails and wanted to see when he checked them (noon and 4pm). Could I do the same? Once I determine what I would do instead, I could move the information related to that task or project from Outlook to Joplin. My anxiety level rises at the thought of not looking at emails until later in the day. Changing so many years’ practice probably warrants some discomfort.
