4/8/2022:
Yesterday I was very happy with the progress of the cutting board. Today I started sanding and discovered that I put the feet on the wrong side. Now the top side had a knot with an opening that looks like food could get caught in it. So I cut off the sides of the board that had the feet. The board is footless now and shorter, but still long enough to be useful. I sanded the board and applied a few applications of food-grade mineral oil. I wanted to continue the learning experience, so I did not abandon the board. Once the board is saturated with the oil, I will apply a final coat of mineral oil and paraffin wax. Once this board is done I will cut another piece of maple and start the process again.
