Transatlantic

We watched the Netflix series Transatlantic. Description per IMDb: “An American journalist who spent 13 months in France 1940-41 managed to arrange safe passage to the US for over 2,000 refugees; who were in danger of losing their lives.”

The acting and story were good and enjoyable, as enjoyable as a WWII drama can be “enjoyable”. But what made it special for me was that many of the characters were among the best minds of the times. Artists, philosophers, and intellectuals of all types. I imagined what it would feel like to be there and to talk to and observe these great thinkers. Many I had heard of but did not know a lot about. I found myself looking them up and plan to investigate them more.
