I had not thought of Discord as decentralized social media. But the MIT Technology Review, January/February 2024, labeled it as such along with Bluesky, Mastodon, Nostr and Threads. Of these, I have tried Mastodon and Nostr, but they have not yet stuck with me. It may be time to start directing blogging activity towards those platforms to see if I get any traction. Probably better than Facebook or Twitter (Meta or X). I heard on The Survival Podcast that single apps can allow connecting with multiple platforms. Will have to look into it. These may be apps like ActivityPub, AT Protocol or Nostr. Nostr is termed the “Nerd Protocol” in the Review. Interesting.
