Volunteering for Lake Champlain: Cyanobacteria Monitoring Insights

I recently volunteered to be a cyanobacteria monitor for Lake Champlain. This program is run by the Lake Champlain Committee. www.lakechamplaincommittee.org.

The Committee has been working for a healthy, accessible lake since 1963.

Earlier this week I attended the Zoom orientation meeting. The meeting lasted a little less than three hours and was very informative. I was impressed by the quality of the presentation and the related materials. The Committee has two other monitoring initiatives in which I am also interested in participating: a marine debris tracker and an invasive species tracker. I have been participating in the iNaturalist program for a few years and have enjoyed contributing to the project. www.inaturalist.org.

When I think about the issues facing us, environmental concerns rise to the top. What concerns you most?
