I recently read a book that my son bought for me for a recent Christmas. I found You Have the Right to Remain Innocent by James Duane an interesting read. There are many examples in the book of instances where talking to the police went terribly wrong. The advice given is that the only thing someone should say to the police, except for who you are and what you are doing at that moment, is “I want a lawyer”.

After reading the book, as usual I worked with Claude to create a book summary. In my prompt I indicated that I did not think that this book fit in with other books in my recent library. Claude pointed out that using the lens of Power Asymmetry, it does link naturally to such other books as Enshittification by Cory Doctorow (the state-power version of his platform-power argument) and Matthew Crawford’s agency thread in Shop Class as Soulcraft, and its logic is systemic rather than moralizing, which fits in nicely with my recent interest in Systems Thinking. It also relates well to survivalist preparation.
